Hobie Class Association – Class membership fees 2018

Your Hobie Class Fees for 2018 are due on 1st January each year.

Why join the Hobie class?
A growing membership allows the Association to organize successful events and provide a good service to members.
This keeps people in the Class and draws in new members allowing us to provide more successful events and even better service ….
It’s a self-supporting expanding circle.

Increase the value of your boat
The Hobie class association also helps to organise fun events such as Malawi, Tanzacat, Richards Bay and more! Eventually, when you come to sell the boat, its price will have been maintained at a higher level than if your Class Association had not been around.

Participate in awesome events
You will also need to be a class member to sail in organised Hobie class events.
These include Nationals, Provincials and Grand Prix events.

What are the class membership fees used for?
A Portion of the membership fee is paid to the Hobie international class association which allows us to have slots at the world championships and compete in the world events.

This also allows the international class association to keep going and keep Hobie alive.

The remaining portion is used by the local Hobie classes to help organise local events.

All the money goes to Hobie, there are no salaries paid and all association members work on a voluntary basis.

Please note that the IHCA rules for the Hobie 16 World Championships have changed – note extract:
“The next Hobie 16 Worlds will no longer have qualifying on site. You will now be required to qualify in your region by competing in Hobie events. The IHCA Executive will decide how many qualified positions each region will receive. The region will then distribute them to countries. The number of Slots for that country will be dependent on how many paid up members we have of IHCA. These fees are now $10 per annum.”

So PLEASE, PLEASE pay your Hobie Class fees – you will need to have paid them to enter any regattas going forward.

Class fees are as follows
Standard Member  R400.00
Sailor + any No. of Crew R 600.00
Under 25 R 200.00
Associate Member R 135.00

An ‘associate member’ is someone who wishes to support Hobie Western Cape but is no longer an active sailor.
