Jazz lovers not only from Cape Town but from all over South Africa will tell you that the Jazz on the Rocks Festival is like no other, a celebration of some of the finest music held at the truly stunning location of Tietiesbaai, Paternoster. The Jazz on the Rocks festival has grown in popularity since it first took place in 2011, bringing together families, friends and those on vacation who just want to have an amazing time. A sensational combination of sunshine and sea sand, fun-filled vibes, serenades of both local and international Jazz performances all topped off with captivating views of the dazzling Atlantic Ocean.
This popular outdoor music festival is held annually in Tietiesbaai, on the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve along the West Coast Peninsula – an otherwise peaceful coastal area. The stage itself is built on large rocks that lie across the sea, where soothing and soulful jazz tunes can be enjoyed by all as groups of friends and families with children set up their tents and seats on the beach and cool off in the refreshing ocean waters. The Jazz on the Rocks Festival is a family friendly event and has an excellent track record for safety. Over the years the exciting Jazz on the Rocks Festival has featured some unforgettable performances by local artists that include Freshly Ground, Jimmy Dludlu and Judith Sephuma as well as Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The event was established in 2004 by Clarence Ford, a presenter on Heart FM, with the appeal of harnessing nature’s forces with the power of music in an outdoor living environment.
While visiting the Tietiesbaai area which is next to Paternoster, why not enjoy a longer vacation in this wonderful seaside area that has become incredibly popular with tourists and even locals from the city seeking a peaceful and memorable holiday along the coast.
